“Enduring Relationships: Difficult Times in Literature and Our Lives”

One year into a global health crisis, individuals around the world have had to reconcile their previous ways of life with a “new normal”, forcing many to evaluate what it means to be social beings when socialization itself is not what it once was. Last year’s edition of Interpretations (“It’s the End of the World As We Know It”) reflected us in the moment of crisis, yet after a year of living, processing, and surviving, this year’s edition of Interpretations seeks to explore the many ways that interpersonal relationships persist through, and can even be forged from, times of hardship and transition. We are proud to present this year’s Interpretations issue, titled “Enduring Relationships: Difficult Times in Literature and Our Lives”, which underscores the tenacity, innovation, and passion of our community to support and sustain not only one another but the humanities in a time when they are more crucial than ever.
